The Camping-weekend was very nice. My host-family took me and the other student, Yuna, with them, what was actually quite generous and very lovely of them. But I didn't had a choice, since my host mother planed the trip without even asking me :-) that's fine, I wanted to go anyway. So my host-father and the children went already on friday evening and my host-mother and I followed on Saturday. When we arrived I was starving, but we had to build up the tent first. After that, finally, we had a great lunch and went to check the place. My host family goes quite often to Tawharanui. It's a camping-place right next to the beach and the beach is more a surfing-beach, as many of the beaches in New Zealand are.
Even though it was very cloudy, it was a hot day, so we went for a swim and I tried body-boarding for the first time. That was great fun. My host-father pushed me into the waves so that I could ride the waves :-) the children had a lot of fun too, the were occupied with riding their bicycles, running around, swimming, sledging down the hill and playing with their friends. Because there was not that much to do, I finally had time to read my book – great!
We spent the weekend with friends of the family, who have to boys. They were also very lovely.
In the evening we made a delicious dinner and drank some New Zealand wine – very relaxed atmosphere – and then played some touch rugby (which is a slightly different form of the real rugby). Before we went to bed, Yuna and I went fore short walk which was very beautiful, because we saw like billion stars in the sky and heard the ocean. In the early morning I'm pretty sure I heard a sheep next to our tent, haha :D
Touch Rugby :-)
